Heat oven to 190°C.
Crumble topping: Tip the flour and sugar into a large bowl. Add the butter and rub into the flour using your fingertips to make a light breadcrumb texture.
Crumble topping: Do not overwork it or the crumble will become heavy. Gently mix in the oats and set aside.
Fruity filling: Peel, core and cut the apples into small wedges and place in ovenproof dish. Add the brambles, placing them evenly between the apples. Sprinkle with all spice, cinnamon and sugar. Bake in the oven for 5 minutes.
Remove from oven and sprinkle crumble mixture on top. Place back in the oven and cook for 20-25 minutes
Remember to freeze any portions you don’t eat this time to save them from going in the bin. A great time saver for a simple meal another day when you may be busy.
